That is the power of local SEO: Should you care for it?

Local SEO can help your business appear in Google’s local 3-pack, which is one of the most desired spots when it comes to search engine results. The 3-Pack displays the three businesses which Google considers to be the most useful based on the ranking power of the website. And this is exactly what makes the Local SEO extremely important, especially if you have a business with a physical store, or one that provides a service in a certain locality. You can promote your business’ visibility on location-based searches by Local SEO. It is actually a modified version of your middle-of-the-road SEO.  Local SEO just makes sure that your business gets found online by people searching for it at that locality.

According to a study done by Forbes, 95% of smartphone users have used their device to perform local searches, out of which 61% called the business and 59% visited and SearchEngineWatch found that 70% of mobile users click to call a business directly from Google search results using their mobile phones. These numbers tell that leads from location-based searches are a major route for potential customers, and those numbers will only keep growing. These leads are from people who are specifically searching for products or services that local businesses offer so it can be assumed that these are qualified leads that will definitely have a higher conversion rate as well!

What is Google My Business?

Google My Business (GMB) is, as the name suggests, your business profile on Google. It was previously known as Google local and Google+ Local for a time being. Here we will precisely discuss how to add or claim google my business listing.

It feeds information to a variety of places, including the local pack and Google Maps search results, but the most familiar appearance will likely be when it’s in the top right (or top on mobile) of a branded search for your business.

GMB profile includes a host of information that you have submitted, like services you are offering, contact details, business description, category, and opening times but it’s important to note that features such as GMB attributes, GMB Q&A’s, and Google Reviews are almost entirely generated by consumers, ideally with experience of your business.

A major part of local SEO is keeping your GMB profile as updated and relevant as possible, so that it has a higher chance of appearing in the local pack, and trustworthy, attractive and appealing enough to warrant a click through. Although it’s incredibly powerful, Google My Business is just one example of what’s known as a ‘citation’.

What is SERPs?

SERP or a search engine results page is the list of results that a search engine comes up with when a specific word or query is searched. Each listing includes the linked Web page title, the linked page URL (Uniform Resource Locator), a brief description of the page content and, in some cases, links to points of interest within the website. Google my Business profile, which is a critical part of local SEO, is becoming more important as Google tries to satisfy more search queries directly in the SERPs.
